Oceanus Adventures - let the fun begin!

Welcome to the second round of blogging
during our adventures-to-be on the Intracoastal Waterway!

If you missed hearing about our first trip (October 2016 - March 2017), you can still find the old blog by going to QualityTimeAdventures.blogspot.com.  I'm not sure how long blogs stay active, but all the posts seem to be still available, at least for now.  Not the most exciting thing you'll ever read, but it will give you a good idea of what we experienced the first time around.

As you may have noticed, the title of our blog has changed, as we have "upgraded" our boat since our last trip.  Our new ride is OCEANUS, a 50-foot Ocean Alexander trawler.  Mark and I discovered that as compatible as we are, the ability to have truly private time on occasion would provide a better quality of life for both of us during extended voyages.  And as a bonus, Oceanus enables us to host others in relative comfort (two additional staterooms), which Quality Time (QT) was sadly lacking as we discovered when our two kids visited us in Key West for a week; the hull seemed to literally bulge with all four of us onboard.  We are very grateful for the opportunity to now "trawl" the Intracoastal on Oceanus!

I must admit that I've been slightly avoidant in preparing for this latest adventure.  I'm not sure of all the psychological/emotional reasons for this, but there is no longer any room for my avoidance.  If you know Mark at all, you know that he truly is a "Man with a Plan," and his current plan is to depart just after the dawn of the New Year (January 2nd - weather permitting) and to return no later than June 1 (total of five months).  In addition to cruising the entire Intracoastal Waterway, an open ocean crossing to the Bahamas is in Mark's Grand Plan for March or April.  This has been a highly contested and negotiated addition to the trip, because if you know me, you know that I am the absolute definition of a "fair weather sailor" and enjoy boating infinitely more when a shoreline is in sight.  Let's just say that things could indeed get interesting.....

We would truly love to hear from you during our journey, so please feel free to comment on the blog or message/email/text us anytime.  There may be periods when we are "off the grid" technologically, but these periods should be fairly brief.  My hope is to post something at least once a week.  For our previous trip, some people were able to "follow" our blog and were notified when new blogs were posted, but this didn't seem to work for everyone.  If we figure out how to best do that, we'll let y'all know.

Thanks so much for taking the time to share our adventures as we prepare to head out once again.  My next blog post will fill you in on all the details of Oceanus and the preparations underway.  Until then, take care!

😀

    2. Unknown person = Sharon. It asked me how I wanted my name to be displayed, but apparently, "unknown" trumps "Sharon".
